Best path to becoming a teacher in the Bay? Best ashrams in California?

Dear all,

I've been on an interesting path the past 4 and a half years of my life, having experienced many peaks and troughs and explored many corners of the world, languages, personalities, and studies. I have recently moved back to the Bay and it feels right, yet my energy still feels like it is being pulled in a number of directions. I have been practicing astanga for the past 8 years, varying between a couple of times per week, to every day, to periods of a couple months of no practice. Since coming back I have been practicing about 4 times per week and my body and mind already feel immensely healthier and my chakras are beginning to become full of new energy. I am becoming aware that yoga, and not just astanga, but also mindful meditation and exercise traditions such as tai chi, qi gung, and vipassana are something that were meant to be a central part of my life, and I am wondering how to proceed on the path and hopefully find employment in the future as a teacher.

I wanted to see if anyone had any particularly strong recommendations for retreat centers or ashrams in California or the Bay? I have looked at the site of the Sivananda Yoga farm in Grass Valley which looks very interesting and seems like it would connect the path of yoga with a connection to the land. I also know of teacher training programs in the East Bay (where I live) offered through Yoga Mandala and Yoga Kula in Berkeley, can anyone speak to the comparative merits of each or recommend others in the East Bay or San Francisco that are particularly outstanding? I am not wedded to course in astanga, though it is the tradition that I am most familiar with, and I would also like to combine that training with ayurveda, and some of the other modalities I mentioned. If anyone could help me down the path by posting a response or sending me a personal message, that would be most appreciated. Many thanks, and many blessings to all!

Loka samastha sukhino bhavantu, namaste,
Matt
